This workshop will focus on the effectiveness of a choral conductor’s kinaesthetic gestures across a variety of musical styles, referencing traditional technique alongside Dalcroze and Laban movement principles. Amy Bebbington will cover what a choral leader can effectively show that compels singers to express themselves with accuracy, emotional connection and vocal freedom – and what this might look and feel like from the perspective of both the facilitator and the recipients. Applying kinaesthetic gestures with physical, emotional and musical intention can transform the artistry of any ensemble and the workshop will include insights into that process. There is a strong pedagogical approach to this session which makes it suitable for conductors at all levels, and conducting teachers.
